Antonio Serrano, the Advocacy Director for the ACLU of Wyoming, stands as a pivotal figure in the Rocky Mountain civil rights landscape. In his current capacity, Antonio orchestrates the ACLU’s public education and advocacy initiatives, leveraging a sophisticated toolkit of coalition-building, leadership development, and strategic lobbying. His work ensures that advocates across the state possess the resources and opportunities necessary to drive meaningful change in critical areas such as immigration and criminal justice reform.
Antonio’s journey toward statewide leadership began in 2016 when he founded Juntos, a non-profit organization that has since become an institutional pillar for Wyoming’s immigrant families [About.jpg]. Before joining the ACLU, his foundational work at Juntos was defined by a direct, service-oriented mission to protect the dignity of the “gente.” Under his leadership, the organization distributed “Know Your Rights” (KYR) handbooks and essential legal documents to hundreds of families, providing a vital shield against systemic inequality and housing warrants. This grassroots foundation established Juntos as a proactive defender in a state where such voices were historically marginalized.
In 2018, Antonio transitioned to the ACLU of Wyoming as an organizer, where he played a central role in some of the state’s most impactful civil rights campaigns. He was a primary architect of the #WyoSayNo coalition, which achieved a historic victory in 2020 by successfully blocking two private prison corporations from establishing an immigration detention center in Uinta County [15, About.jpg]. Concurrently, he helped spearhead the Wyoming Rapid Response Network (WYRRN), a statewide program established in 2017 to document actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and protect families from federal overreach.
Antonio’s commitment to Wyoming is forged in the heart; he carries the struggles and triumphs of the community with him in every legislative session and public forum. Having promised to spend his life ensuring the state lives up to its “Equality State” namesake, he continues to advocate for a future where every resident—regardless of their origin—enjoys the respect and protection they deserve. Through his work with Juntos and the ACLU, Antonio Serrano remains a dedicated “accomplice” in the pursuit of justice and human dignity for all Wyomingites.
